What To Expect From Touring The Farm

Educational farm tours are designed for groups larger than 4 persons.  Groups that often schedule tours are Senior Citizen groups, Home Schoolers, all age school classes, 4H Groups, Moms’ Groups, Garden Clubs, Women’s Club, Red Hat Societies, Girl Scout Troops, Boy Scout Troops, Cub and Brownie Troops, college groups, etc.

Tours are designed to bring the participants up close to alpacas in their habitat.  Some alpacas are friendly and will approach people, others will be shy and evasive.  Tours are on foot and there is walking on uneven terrain that may prohibit people with ambulatory issues.  Wheelchairs are not advised.  Light weight strollers will actually work for Moms with small children.  We are not handicap accessible and offer no public restrooms.

No tours will be conducted in inclimate weather which includes snow, rain, and wind.

No tours will be conducted without a pre-arranged appointment made by calling 812-445-7874.  We can be contacted initially by email at juvonda1@gmail or erjones47274@hotmail.com to discuss the needs of your group.

Tours last about one hour.  Because of our busy schedule, it is important to begin the tour on time at your pre-scheduled appointment and to end on time as well.  In groups, fees can be collected by the organizer in advance and paid upon arrival.  Cost is $5.00 per person with a minimum cost of $20 for small groups of 4 or less.

Please keep in mind that Hoosier Heartland Alpacas is a working farm and care of our animals comes first and foremost.  This is NOT a petting zoo.  Our focus in on educating the public about our operation and about alpacas.  Impromptu visits with the expectation of a tour is not possible within the scope of our farming responsibilities.  Please be understanding and respectful of our time and work constraints.

The Fiber & Gift Shoppe at Hoosier Heartland Alpacas offers finished products made from alpaca fleece and a large variety of yarns made from our herd.  The shop is not wheelchair accessible.

At Hoosier Heartland Alpacas, we look forward to serving you, helping you enjoy your learning experience, and increasing your awareness of the farming of fine livestock.  We believe we can offer your group some wonderful experiences on our farm!
